While pop star Lady Gaga’s been touting how good the food is at her father’s restaurant, Joanne Trattoria has gotten a “C” grade from the Department of Health.

The restaurant owned by Lady Gaga’s parents has racked up a host of violations from the New York City Department of Health after a recent inspection, confirmed.

Joanne Trattoria, a Manhattan restaurant opened by Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta in February, was given the Department of Health’s lowest grade, a “C,” after an inspection on Oct. 2. Inspectors found six critical violations,  including “food not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service’’ and “food contact surface not properly washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use and following any activity when contamination may have occurred.’’

Other violations included wiping cloths not being stored in sanitizing solution and employees with inadequate personal cleanliness, soiled garments and a lack of effective hair restraints. The restaurant was given 42 demerits to earn a “C,’’ compared to the range of 0-13 for an “A’’ and 14-27 for a “B.’’

Restaurants are given placards that are required by the Department of Health to be displayed in the window with their grades on them.  Joanne was issued one with a “C’’ and one that says “grade pending.’’

The restaurant management plans to appeal the grade it was given.

“We’re going to be taking it to court,” Joanne general manager Travis Jones told the New York Post. “So, it’s bogus until November, when it’s finalized. We’re planning on disputing it.” Jones did not respond to requests for comment from

This recent inspection was the third one with numerous demerits for the restaurant.  As of Jan. 12, only 25 percent of restaurants were on pace to be inspected three times in a year, putting Joanne Trattoria in the bottom group.

The poor grade from the Department of Health is the latest blow to the restaurant, which opened to scathing reviews. The New York Daily News gave it one star, calling it a “careless, lifeless production that feels like a weird facsimile of a restaurant rather than the real thing.’’ New York Post critic Steve Cuozzo savaged the eatery, calling the veal osso bucco “unspeakably fatty” and writing that the grilled calamari was “the worst I’ve had in a lifetime of squid-mongering.” In addition, the restaurants has gotten many critical reviews from customers on Yelp and Zagat.

Gaga has publicly plugged the restaurant, joking with radio host Elvis Duran in an interview that it is responsible for her recent, well-publicized weight gain.

“My father opened a restaurant,’’ she said. “It’s so amazing… it’s so freaking delicious, but I’m telling you I gain five pounds every time I go in there. So my dad wants me to eat at the restaurant, and I’m, like, I’ve got to go where I can drink green juice.”

No word on whether the restaurant was also responsible for her recent on-stage vomming during a concert in Barcelona.
